Marbella's original "golden mile" of beachfront homes and hotels stretched west along the coast to San Pedro. The "new golden mile" reaches Estepona in an almost unbroken line of development. Estepona never succumbed to high-rise development and has managed, despite its popularity with Brits and other northern Europeans, to maintain the atmosphere of a Spanish town. It has a pretty port and blue-flag beaches which are safe, sandy and clean.
